Why is it important to save money?

So you can use it for your college and also so you have money to live. You also need to save money to help pay bills.

What do you see your parents doing to help save money?

They really try and spend money on what they need more than what they want, sometimes!

How are some ways that you try and save money?

Not spending money right when I get it and I try and really think about what I want to spend my money on.

What do you spend your money on?

Toys that I know I will use and entertainment. 

How does playing games with money help you?

It helps me learn about money and get better at counting it so when you are at the store you know how much money you need and how to count it. 

What are some other games that you play that helps you learn about money?

Monopoly. It helps you learn about what you really need to pay for and if you buy properties how you can earn money from other players.

Object of the game: To add the largest value.

Materials: a die, pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters

Directions: Take turns rolling the die. When it is your turn roll the die and record the number that comes up on the die in any of the empty cells in the row for that turn on your recording sheet and collect that number of coins. When all four cells in that row have been filled, find the total amount of money you have for that round. Put the coins back and continue until all 4 rounds have been played. Find a grand total at the end. The winner is the person with the largest grand total.

Playing money games with kids helps them learn about money in a fun and engaging way. It is also a great way to start having conversations with them about the importance of saving money!
